Dear Friend in Christ,
Over ninety years ago Saint Bernard Parish was established by Most Reverend J.F. Regis Canevin, D.D. to serve the faithful of Mt. Lebanon and Dormont. The priests, staff and faithful of this parish are eternally grateful to our founding brothers and sisters for the legacy that is now ours. Our Church is an architectural wonder. The school building remains a very suitable facility to pass on the faith to our future. What was once our convent is now a multi-purpose center filled with a flurry of activity. But with all due respect to these structures, the greatest and most beautiful aspect of Saint Bernard Parish remains its diverse people which number over 10.000.
As a parish we have come a long way in ninety years. But so, too, has our society adjusted and changed with the times. Who would have ever envisioned ninety years ago something called the internet that allows for instant access and communication? Or who would have imagined something like a parish web site which could become not only a fountain of information but also a means of interaction?
With my brother priests, Father Richard Wesoloski and Father Brian Noel, it gives me great joy to welcome you to our newly constructed parish web site. This technological encounter provides but a window view of what is inside our parish. As pastor I am proud to present this information to you. Please know that our entire parish staff is ready and willing to be of service to you and your spiritual needs. Every day we strive to be a welcoming parish reflecting the heart of Christ, the mind of the Church and the Spirit of Saint Bernard.
It is my hope that you will take some time to get to know us. We are a large parish with a big heart. Please be assured of a remembrance in my prayers. I hope you will do the same for me.
Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. David J. Bonnar
