St. Winifred Food Pantry
The St. Winifred Food Pantry is a non-denominational program run completely by volunteers with donated food and monies. Its purpose is to supply needy families in specific areas with food products regardless of ethnic background or religious affiliation. The eight church coalition of St. Anne, St. Bernard, St. Germaine, St. John Capistran, St. Louise de Marillac, St. Norbert, St. Thomas More, and St. Winifred provides financial support and holds two food drives per year per church. Monthly it assists close to 350 families throughout the South Hills area. The pantry is open every Wednesday and Saturday from 10-11:00 am, and provides an average of 500 sets of groceries per month. It is a member of the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank (GPFB). St. Winifred Food Pantry provides a Supplemental Commodities Food Program (SCFP) for the elderly (60+) which is subsidized by the Federal Government. The food pantry is also active in the WIC Program, assisting mothers and children in need who meet the government requirements.
