St. Bernard

History of
Saint Bernard Parish

History of St Bernad ParishSaint Bernard Parish has served the South Hills communities of Dormont and Mt. Lebanon since its founding in 1919. During this period, the Parish has grown from 180 families to over 10,000 members, serving parishioners and neighbors' spiritual needs, as well as being a focal point of daily life with numerous parish activities, especially St. Bernard School . In the 80 years that have passed since Bishop Canevin appointed Fr. Thomas Bryson as the founding Pastor, St. Bernard has truly grown to be, in the Bishop's words, "the Cathedral in the South Hills".
