 In addition to the Parish Pastoral Council there
are other ministries and organizations which enhance the spiritual and social life of the parish. All parishioners are invited and encouraged to join them.
Altar Servers
Boys and girls from the 4th grade and beyond serve at all liturgies on weekend and Holyday Masses, and at funerals and weddings.
Athletic Association Golf Outing
C.C.D. (St. Bernard Religious Education Department)
C.C.D. is a religious education program for elementary school children who attend public school. Preparation for the sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist, and Confirmation are
part of the religious education program.
Music Ministry
Saint Bernard Parish has a strong commitment to quality and excellence in the music at our liturgies. From the presence of
music at our daily Masses to the strength of our choral and cantor programs, our goal is to lead and inspire those who come to the church for corporate prayer and worship.
Eucharistic Ministers Men and women distribute holy communion at week-end Masses, Holyday Masses, and daily Mass. Some of the Eucharistic
Ministers take communion to homebound parishioners and parishioners in hospitals and nursing homes.
Helping Hands
A grouping of volunteers willing to help St. Bernard School families coping with childbirth, adoption, serious illness or injury, family death or other extraordinary circumstances.
Volunteers may provide meals, arrange baby-sitting or transportation, or help in any way.
Lectors Lectors read the scripture passages at Mass and make
announcements of interest that are important to the parish family.
Moms In Touch Mothers of St. Bernard School children who meet every
Tuesday a.m. to pray for our children, our faculty, and our school.
Parish Pastoral Council A president, vice-president, secretary, and three standing
committees (Worship, Education and Apostolate) constitute the Parish Pastoral Council which develops plans of action to fulfill the mission and vision of the parish.
Parent-Teacher Guild The PTG is composed of teachers and parents of children in our school. The goal of the PTG is to enhance the education of the
school children through field trips, educational presentations at school, classroom enrichment, as well as, many other programs. Through the work of the PTG Board and volunteers, several
socials for the children and parents are sponsored throughout the year including the Chinese Auction, Santa's Workshop, and Book Fair. The PTG meets once a month. Meetings are open to
all school parents and teachers.
Respect Life Committee Serving the parish through education, projects and services on
issues relating to the sanctity of human life. Annual activities include a parish trip to Washington D.C. for the March for Life.
Saint Bernard Catholic School
Catholic School is available to children who desire a quality education, formation in the Catholic faith, and wonderful technological, cultural, social, and religious experiences.
Saint Vincent De Paul Society Men and women of this charitable organization visit parishioners at home, hospitals, and nursing homes. They also
provide assistance (food, clothing, etc.) to people in need. This part of their work is confidential. Funds are raised through the
voluntary contributions of the faithful to the "poor boxes" located at the doors of the church. The St. Vincent de Paul Society meets every Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in Fontenay Center.
They have a food drive during Lent and at Thanksgiving each year and a coat drive in October.
School Advisory Council
Ushers
Ushers assist at all weekend and Holyday Masses by welcoming and seating worshipers.
Woman's Guide & Christian Mothers
Meeting the needs of today's women... spiritually, apostolically, educationally and socially.
Young Adult Ministry
A ministerial outreach to single and married adults in their twenties and thirties with a Roman Catholic focus.
Youth Ministries Our Parish youth are encouraged to participate in a variety of programs geared to their interest.
